As you may not know, the Inspection Authorization designee for A&P mechanics is the only certification the FAA Issues to mechanics without ever having to perform the activity that they are authorized to perform. Meaning it is very common that a newly minted IA may have never performed a major repair or even performed an Annual Inspections.
What the test provides is a test to ensure that the applicant knows about the subjects covered for the designee. So, you know what a Type Certificated Data Sheet, or an Airworthiness is and how to look one up. But you were never tested how to apply those data sources to the work you will be signing for.
This course is designed to provide that fundamental education that all IAs must have to be able to ensure that all of the work being performed complies to all applicable Federal Air Regulations. For example, all data used to repair or alter the aircraft must be done using properly approved data. This course will provide you with the tools you need to be able to determine this very important requirement.
As an IA, or an Inspector in a FAR 145 repair station, you will be required to validate, with your signature, that all of the work described in Block 8 of FAA Form 337 meets all of the required Federal Aviation Safety requirements.
